Nutrition : its spiritual dimension

"Daily life consists of a series of acts which most people consider very ordinary. But what they do not know is that we can take these acts which are absolutely essential for survival and transpose them onto the spiritual plane, and in doing so we can attain higher orders of life.
Take nutrition, for example. It is not the foods themselves that are essential but the energies they contain, the quintessence imprisoned within them, for this is where the life is. The physical matter of the food is merely a support. Through this matter, we must seek to attain this quintessence, so that our subtle bodies are also fed. It is a mistake to think we eat in order to nourish our physical body alone. We eat as well for the nourishment of our heart, intellect, soul and spirit." Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
