Water has the power to absorb both negative and positive elements -
"Medicinal herbs need water to release all their healing properties. You boil, soak or steep the herbs in water, which you then drink. You do not eat the plants themselves; it is enough to drink the water in which they have been soaked, for the water is imbued with the plants’ healing properties. You must also know how to use the absorptive power of water to influence your psychic life.
When you are extremely tired, take a bath or simply wash your hands knowing that the water will absorb your fatigue – you will feel lighter. Do the same when you feel troubled, sad, or unhappy – the water will wash away your cares and sorrows. On the other hand, at times when you feel especially happy, inspired and exalted, wait a few hours before washing even your hands. Above all, do not take a shower or a bath because water not only has the ability to absorb negative elements, it also absorbs positive, beneficial elements."Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
