Competition - apply the same qualities in daily life
"What is it that drives mountaineers to climb ever higher and more challenging peaks? What compels swimmers and runners to swim or run faster and faster? What is it that makes chess players ponder for hours before moving a pawn? Nothing! It is they who impose these exploits or problems upon themselves. And what joy every victory brings them!
Human beings have invented an amazing variety of activities, games and contests of all kinds, and this shows that they have a deep-seated need always to go farther, always to surpass and outdo themselves. Why then does it never occur to them to apply the qualities of endurance, skill and intelligence needed in their games and competitions to everyday life? Why do they always complain about having to make an effort when it comes to daily life?"Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
