"Who wants to do something he doesn’t love doing? Before you are motivated to approach something, to use it or work with it, you have to love it. When you are hungry you feel a love for food, and you don’t need to be told to look for it in the cupboards or the shops. And it is the same with all other activities. If you love the spiritual life, you cannot simply remain passive, with arms folded: you are driven to fulfil this love, to do everything you can to satisfy this need for purity and light.
It is useful to have a master, a teacher who can clearly explain to you what the spiritual life consists of, the methods that enable you to embark on it and its potential benefits, but it is up to you to love it and live it. The master provides the light, and the disciple responds with his heart. "Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
