"The intellect makes it possible for us to know the physical world and a little of the psychic world, but no more. It is actually a very limited faculty which does not allow us to know the whole truth. Consider a rose, for example: the truth of the rose is not only its form, colour and fragrance, but an emanation, a life, a soul which cannot be grasped by the mind. If we are to know it, we must penetrate the totality of those elements that make it a rose and thereby grasp its quintessence.
It is the same for a human being: who he truly is includes everything about him, not only his physical body but his thoughts, feelings, desires and highest aspirations. To the extent that you do not know these, you do not truly know him. You know how he appears, but not the truth of him.
